Rooftop is seeking a talented and driven mid-level video editor to join the team. You will collaborate with directors, scriptwriters, and other production professionals to create powerful and impactful videos that aim to create meaningful change in the world.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A portfolio of past work showcasing editing skills.
• Grade 12/Matric.
• Tertiary education or any relevant qualification in editing would. be advantageous, but not essential.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

• 3-5 years’ experience in video editing.
• High level of competency in editing software (Adobe suite preferred).
• Knowledge/understanding of storytelling principles.
• Knowledge of full video production processes and how to input music, dialogues, graphics and effects.
• Basic audio editing skills; working with an audio engineer to enhance edits with music and sound design.
• Combining graphics and text into the edit.
• After Effects experience is advantageous.
• Grading edits to enhance the look of the video and help drive the story.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conceive interesting story ideas and attention-grabbing edits.
• Work with fellow creatives and team members to create impactful edits.
• Tell creative and compelling stories on the timeline. 
• Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry best practices to maximise efficiency.
